Check out my Vintage haul from this past weekend and today! I got the 1960’s gingham dress and the fox fur boa from the Vintage Expo in San Francisco and the 1930’s gold skirt suit from Moon Zooom in San Jose. That one might be going to my internship boss if she wants it. If not, then I’ll fix it up and keep it (to admire, not wear) or sell it. I can’t believe such a beauty sat around almost a year! It looks terrible on me, but I was still drawn to it.
The vintage expo was so awesome! Kind of like a religious experience for me. I’m starting to think that vintage clothing, not fashion design, may be my calling.
Here’s a photodump from my trip to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the De Young museum last weekend! The faces were projected onto the mannequins and the ones here would smile, smirk and sing. JPG himself would babble about his beginnings, although his face and mannerisms just remind me of the Moon from Might Boosh, or a character from the thumb movies. The effect also reminded me too much of the Haunted Mansion.
Here’s another skirt I did for class today. This one is named Mactans after a different variety of Black Widow. I got the idea for this from a pair of Fluevogs.
Preview of my theme board for my first fashion collection, Femme Fatale! (Fall sportswear). I hope to redo it later on the computer with the same concept and add fabric swatches.
